Tradelicense.cz / What you need to apply
Very important: there are different requirements for
EU Citizens and 3rd-Country Nationals !
EU Citizen - living in CZ shorter than 3 months:
- extract of foreign criminal record needed,
no apostille necessary (but recommended),
legalized translation *, NOT older than 3 months. - proof of (former) address abroad
EU Citizen - living in CZ more than 3 months:
- no extract of foreign criminal record needed.
- copy of your Residence Permit **- if you do not have it yet: proof of your former foreign address
- a statement that your last country of residence is Czech Republic (we provide a template).
Note I: we offer legalized translation of most common languages.
Note II: EU Citizens are required to have a temporary Residence Permit if their purpose of stay is work or business. We can register your Residence Permit after the Trade License is ready.
3rd Country National with a D-Visa / Residence Permit:
- extract of foreign criminal record needed,
WITH apostille stamp, legalized translation * **,
NOT older than 3 months, - copy of your D-Visa / Residence Permit ***
Note I: we offer legalized translation of most common languages.
Note II: Only US citizens can use a sworn statement from the embassy instead of a criminal extract, other nationalities not
Note III: For changing the purpose of stay on your visa it needs to be valid for minimum 3 months. If the time left is shorter, you will have to apply for the Business Visa from scratch at an emabssy outside Czech Republic.
3rd-Country National without D-Visa:
- extract of foreign criminal record needed,
WITH apostille stamp, legalized translation * **,
NOT older than 3 months, - proof of your (former) foreign address
- you must apply for a Business Visa (on the basis of this trade license) at an embassy outside of Czech Republic.

Note II: Only US citizens can use a sworn statement from the embassy instead of a criminal extract, other nationalities not
Note III: Very important: 3rd-country nationals without Residence Permit must also register at commercial court within 3 months after getting the trade license! More on this here.
Documents required for all nationalities:
- proof of residence address in Czech Republic
- a Letter of Consent, with permission of the building owner to use a location as business address OR:
- a registered address / business seat / virtual office

On the day of registration we need your original passport AND you have to be present personally. The rest of the process we can complete without your presence.
