Some Facts:

A Trade License is called "Živnostenský list"
in the Czech language

A Trade License is called "Živ. list" or even "zivno"
by most foreigners

A Živnostenský list is easier, cheaper and faster to setup (and stop) than an sro (a company)

"Živnostenský list" does not have to mean "small business", you can have a turnover of millions and even employees

You can have a Živnostenský list and be employee at the same time, or put it on hold while you're employee

With a Trade License you probably pay far less taxes and are able to deduct more expenses than an employee

Most 3-rd Country Nationals need a Business Visa and have to register also at the Commercial Court (Obchodní Soud)

Because of the economical situation and the difficulties of getting a work permit for 3rd-county nationals, many companies prefer to have freelancers, instead of offering a job as employee.

Secondly, the moment you lose your job as employee, also your work permit and visa expires immediately. With a trade license this doesn't happen. You may lose your client, but not your business visa / residence permit.

And... you will never have to apply for a work permit anymore!

So... get your živnostenský list now, there are plenty of business- and freelance opportunities, especially in Prague.

On the next pages we exactly explain what documents you need for registering your trade license business.
